Ain’t Too Many Left Who Paid Their Dues

Main Attrakionz team up with These New Puritans (the band from the UK) for some certified dope shit. Some people may think funny of their slowed-up Bay Area drawl, but you can’t deny the overall energy and approach of these cats. It’s undeniable that they’ve got both ear and mind wide-open on some progressive stylings; whether that entails rhyming over spaced-as-fuck synths, voices, and 808’s, or doing shows in museums, or with garbage can-lobbing hardcore bands…or both. I’m just happy to see more cats who aren’t afraid to not only think beyond the current day trend; either squeaky-clean, P.C. radio anthems (that come off like a proposition from a pedophile), or building a career and style off of referencing the past, but also fully flex that D.I.Y., dirt hustlin’ attitude. It’s their anti-Industry aura that charms the most.

Plus, this joint is sinister. A+.

Peace to EPMDenny.

Main Attrakionz will be in NYC during the span of CMJ week (happening, now). Be sure to check them alongside Action Bronson, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, Trash Talk, Youth Of Today, and plenty more at True Till Def (click for more details), taking place at Santos Party House this Saturday, October 22nd.

Break Down The Walls

Hip hop meets hardcore (and metal)…why not? These two extremely outspoken, youth-driven, American musical subcultures, born roughly around the same time in the 70’s, run on the same fundamental belief system, so it makes all the sense in the world to throw the two together in the same room. On October 22nd, True Till Def will make this collaboration happen in a very memorable way at NYC’s famed Santos Party House.

The event is a marriage of two of the most nonconformist, free spirited and challenging musical movements rooted and ingrained in New York City: Hardcore and Hip Hop.

Plus, find me an OG New Yorker who doesn’t cite albums from the Bad Brains or Cro Mags alongside Public Enemy and the Wu as their favorites of all time. As a matter of fact, it all sounds like an episode of Boundless Radio!

So boom, in one night, taking place on both levels of Santos, you get some of the freshest, newer voices in hip hop (Action Bronson, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, and Main Atrrakionz) to some heavy fuckin’ bands like Kylesa and Trash Talk…plus the reunion of Youth Of Today? YEP. ALL FOR FREE. You’re buggin’ if you’re not making this top priority during CMJ week.

But don’t worry if you can’t make it for very, very good reason, we’ll be there with cameras in hand to cover the whole thing!
