Haleek Maul‘s Oxyconteen EP is downright nightmarish as it proceeds from start with the young Brooklynite submerged in a murky soup of slowed inaudibles, phased-out synths, lumps of subsonic bass, haunting chants, and distortion-born fuzz that warms like the hands of an adulterous lover. One could draw comparison to the music of a one SpaceGhostPurrp, but this is much more technically refined as it is darker, progressively somber, and completely bent on analyzing each pixel to the slowest, most punishing form of self-reflection turned annihilation. Do not play if you are currently taking anti-depressants.
