Gunplay aka Don Logan was/is a huge Wu head, especially when dealing with the “purple tape” (as if you couldn’t tell from the “aka Don Logan” part) and the debut opus of a one Russell Jones. Damned good to hear that being exhibited in the music; here, directly in beat selection. Much like the “Bitches Ain’t Shit” freestyle, or even Killa Kyleon‘s “Paid In Full,” a heavy, non-Northern drawl (+ actual spittage) over more organic (i.e. drum breaks, loops, and all), upbeat (Golden Era-because-it-was-made-famous-during-the-Golden Era) production proves to never cease in being a worthy, interest-swelling combination of style. Multi-regional/multi-era collage rap.
Expect a full mixtape of these-type freestyles entitled 106 & Snort Freestyle Highdayz Volume 1; to be served up before the Bogota Rich EP entree.
Gunplay “Guillotine Swords”
Big up Orlando Diesel and Don Logan
