Them Outdoors Boys

Meyhem Laurenevich and Action Bronsonlinio at it again. Best use of a green/blue screen in a minute. One of my favorite joints off of Mey’s Self-Induced Illness (cop that, cop that). Gotta love the work ethic and multimedia output of this fuckin’ camp (and yo, the fact that these cats are part of a “camp” is refreshing enough…how many legitimate rap crews are really out there at this point?).

“Typhoon Rap” (Directed by Matt Raz & Tommy Mas)

BIG UP ALLA DEH OUTDOORSMEN FAMILIA.

Tilapia Smothered

Meyhem and Ragazino Senior (finally) give us a video for their certified banger, “Even More Butter.” You don’t understand how happy this makes me…as it stands as one of my favorites to come from either camp. Shot and directed by A Jay D…expect MC-ship, gear, and a night in NYC’s brick ass cold winter.

“Even More Butter” (Produced by Shakim Allah)

Shout out to my Outdoorsmen and CICO fams…

Go get Meyhem’s Self Induced Illness and Maffew’s Rare Gems: The Collection…now. Extremely kosher.

New New York

What do Action Bronson, Maffew Ragazino, Meyhem Lauren, Roc Marciano, and Timeless Truth all have in common? Native New Yorkers? Yes. Super duty tough work on any mic device? Yes. PTP got each of their respective backs (ayo)? Again, yes. But let us throw you a good read: “Top Five Young, Hometown-Obsessed New York City Rappers”, as published yesterday on The Village Voice’s blog.

The author, Phillip Miynar, does a fine job of cracking the curtain for the masses who have yet to witness the undeniable talents of the aforementioned a-alike, Rotten Apple reps in his article (not forgetting the additional media to further prove his words true). Read it even if you have seen/heard any of these guys from previous PTP posts, you may gather some additional intel on your future favorite MC’s…plus he pretty much sums up our thoughts on them and the more-than-welcomed resurgence in Golden Era-rooted (read: 1995) 21st Century hip hop. A lot of hometown pride here.

Fire At The One-Time

New Outdoorsmen visuals! Shaz IllYork, Meyhem Lauren, and Action Bronson put the Q.U. spin on the immortal Rza-produced banger from ’95. Yep…from THAT Purple Tape.

File under: 21st Century 90′s Hip Hop (done right).

“Glacierz” (Directed by Shaz Illyork)

I would have posted this last night, but PTP went out to personally support Shaz and co. at an Irish-Bar-turned-live-hip-hop-joint. I’m now typing this in a Helly Hansen jumpsuit with an orange boxcutter tucked into the ankle of my navy-brown suede Skywalk. Click-click.

The Most White Castles In The City

Queens general, Meyhem Lauren (with the help of J-Love), takes you on a mini-tour of his borough, viewers and listeners alike. He asks various members of the populace to sum up his/her stomping grounds in a word (or two)…the myriad of answers given are entertaining as they are on point. Real as the golden “C” on your Carhartt tab.

“Queens” (Produced by J-Love)

And one more for the kiddies…this time Meyhem’s joined by fellow Outdoorsmen Action Bronson and Ag Da Coroner. This is a little older, off of Mey’s Clarified Butter mixtape, but we failed to post it back around its release…so now you have it with new gift wrap.

“Ray Lewis” (Feat. Action Bronson & Ag Da Coroner, Produced by Don Producci)

Peace to The Outdoorsmen and the rest of my Queens peoples…

Swiss Alps

I couldn’t find a legit flyer for this event, so here’s all the info you need to know. Meyhem Lauren is throwin’ down on the mic at Gallery Bar on Orchard Street.

I Can’t Believe It’s Not…

New shit from killa Queens grinder Meyhem Lauren (of the Outdoorsmen), featuring the recently PTP-cosigned Maffew Ragazino. Mey has done plenty of ill collaborations over the years (honestly, too many to name…but he’s covered practically all of the Queens legends to the Wu)…and this one will go up as one of his finest to date. He’s sharpened up plenty (which shows that diligence and good direction can go a long way) and selects one of the nicest “newcomers” to get on some real golden lyrical shit (obviously Maffew is not new to this, at all). Looking forward to the new Self-Induced Illness butters.
