Like A Referee

Grip Plyaz recently made his triumphant return at #FUXSHIT4, our monthly party of turnt up chaos here in NYC (this was at The Flat in BK), along with some other (New) Atlanta family on stage (paging XRS, Spree Wilson, and Go Dreamer…plus a surprise performance by Hefna Gwap and the Caviar Group). This is just a cool little clip to give you a hint as to how the beginning of the night went…shit got even crazier later, as expected.

Live performance at The Flat in Brooklyn for a bunch of hipsters and hood n*ggas that are into real trap shit.

Purp, Wind & Fire drops tomorrow…and the next time you’re in town, be sure to check the Ballers Eve x PTP x DGB family out.

It Could Be March 2nd, Sound Like July…

14th! Killa Cam. Beer garden. NYC summer. Outdoors. Bushwick, Brooklyn. STARTING IN 7 MINUTES. Bring your most premium bandanas and loudly-colored furs (and loudest tree)… and enjoy.

All I ask for is a flurry of joints off of ‪S.D.E.‬ (and none of them being “What Means The World…”) and “Glory.” ‪#KILLA‬

Comin’ Through Your Window

We had G-Side return to BK to further cement that “second home” feeling with a two-night live experience (we’re not just a blog, ya know)…and damn, did they leave their stamp on the minds of friends and fans alike! I mean really. First was a block party-gone-inside show at a ping pong and artspace in Williamsburg…then a loft rager in Bushwick (their first official house party performance). Two different worlds, meet the G’s…and vice versa.

The following is from the latter, held at the Slumerican loft (what up Newport!). I was somehow elected to be the DJ for the Huntsville duo…and it was nothing short of a pleasure (as you can see by my random, in-the-moment facial expressions). More footy on the way too!

Huge huge huge familial shouts to G-Side, CP, Mali, the whole SMS, Ballers Eve, Slumerican, Steady Bloggin’, Dirty Glove Bastard/Bedford-La Brea-Biscayne, BBOX Radio, Mike Machinist, the rest of our PTP fams who put in work, and everyone who came through. Couldn’t have done it without any of you.

For a few more photos, head over to sdotpdot’s site.

Bonus: Unreleased shit courtesy of Alex Steady B. ST and the SMS rapstress over a Clams beat? We’ll take two of those, thank you very much.

Double Bonus: A new burner from the G’s with fellow Slow Mo crime partners, Kristmas and Bentley. You will definitely notice the continued shift toward harder-edged production (read: “trap rap”…as prefaced with “Meta Peace” and Clova’s “Murder”), yet even without a backing of ethereal trunk funk grandiosity (that which headlined both the Cohesive and iSLAND albums), this still maintains a uniqueness with their patented mold of nu-UGK working chemistry and higher echelon lyricism.

Recognize! (We’re Having A Party!!!)

It’s gonna be fun.

Editor’s note: Details!

Us Fresh Out The Box / Purple Tape Pedigree boys, in conjuction with our family Ballers Eve, Dirty Glove Bastard, & Steady Bloggin’ (as we are the NEW MOB), are putting on a FREE show with G-SIDE and The Block Beattaz this Thursday, June 21 (as part of BBOX Radio‘s role in Make Music NY‘s all-day street fest/block party in Williamsburg, Brooklyn).

While the block party starts outside at 346 Metropolitan Ave…come 7:30pm, we take things inside at PiPs (table tennis & art space, 158 Roebling) for the Huntsville, Alabama superduo and DJ sets by the super producers (for those who can’t make it in person, it’s gonna be streamed live as our episode of FOTB).

After all that, Big Christmas (Karaoke Killed The Cat‘s own Lord Easy and Chris Goldteeth) and Tecla (the night’s finisher) follow.

P.S. And on Friday with OTHER special guests at the Slumerican (yes, care of Yelawolf‘s Slumerican imprint) loftspace in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Cheap entry, early show (use this as your Friday night jump-off), cheap dranks, backyard space, dope DJ’s and rappers.

A Boss From A Cornerboy

G-Side were recently overseas moving at the speed of…well, you know by now. While in Sweden they were asked to wreak havoc over this year’s midwestern public high school prom anthem. And ’nuff havoc was…well, you know.

“I Don’t Like Freestyle”

BONUS: Another video emerges of the G’s in Sweden. This time taking on the Harry Fraud-produced thang for them two non-tan boys.

“Bird On A Wire Freestyle”

Props to DGB and again.

At The Same Damn Time

Trap Rap Fridays – the 2nd edition – was quite the “turnt up” event: a large room and a half FULL of people, a stage commanded by the Baller’s Eve and Dirty Glove Bastard collectives letting off nothin’ but huge country rap tunes, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire with 40-odd Peel Off muhfuckas, skrippers, flying dollar bills, and assorted other fuckery. Look forward to the next one…be there.

BBOX Radio was there to stream the whole shit live…and here’s a portion of the night which includes eXqo’s in-crowd performance (at the 73:02 mark)…and that which followed thereafter.

That’s A Lie!!!!!!

DOOM recently spun at Boiler Room, a UK-based live DJ broadcast platform – always from a secret location. Not only was this to help promote his upcoming project with Jneiro Jarel…but it also gave Dumile some room to just do crazy shit…with music…live…again.

More Vodka

What better way to close out Southpaw than to have the livest nice rapper reppin’ the borough, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, goon the stage the fuck out. This shit was crazy…as illustrated in the following footage of THE posse cut (“The Last Huzzah”), featuring Despot, Das Racist, El-P, and the man, himself (amongst many Viva La Peel Off personnel and assorted other goonballs).

100 cats on stage and my dude Spot’s presence never fails to stand extra tall. That’s that SOP shit.

Don’t Box Him In!

Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire gave you some eX-Mas goodies…now we’re following suit with live footage from his December 6 set at the Glasslands, BKNY. eXqo and the Peel Off committee went AWOL on stage, once again. Drinks were flown, people almost trampled, mosh pits had, rap words yelled, but most of all, the attention of a packed room full of seemingly equal parts guy/girl was well-earned.

Other than the live as shit show eX and co. put on, the other highlight was the few joints we haven’t seen performed before: the “March 9th Freestyle” (or “What’s Beef”), “The Rocketeer” (I believe he premiered this El-P laced joint that night, available on the eX-MAS mixtape), and “No Time”, which not only is a ridiculous flood of words to repeat in a live setting, but also features the linguistic talents of his always seen/seldom heard, right-hand man (and cuzo), Goldie Glo.

“Michael Dudikoff” & “Fire Marshall Bill”

Apologizing to Note D for putting him on the spot re: his “favorite pussy”, “No Time” (Feat. Goldie Glo), & “Huzzah”

“Lou Ferigno’s Mad”, “The Rocketeer”, “March 9th Freestyle”, & “Build-A-Bitch”

Peace to the entire Peel Off, Note, Mummz, Alex, & G-Side!
