Media Gasface returns with the first episode in a new series of shorts taking place in the lower, Eastern end of Gotham called A Night In Alphabet City. The focus here is to correctly capture, and transfer to the viewers at home, the live energy of a hip hop performance (the type of stuff that I’ve seen run the emotional gamut – from overwhelming, vocal chord straining joy, to angst that lets off an impromptu stir of violence somewhere on-stage or in the crowd, to a stream of tears in mid-dedication, to the “I don’t know you from a stain on my doormat, but I feel like you’re my best friend while we both stand here and recite the lyrics verbatim”). The clip you’re about to see features none other than Brooklyn’s own, Buckshot, performing at The Pyramid, and the footage is fucking crisp, yet still rugged enough in the sound department to get that “live” feeling coursing throughout.
