Shabaam Sahdeeq revisits the days of Rawkus, his time inside, and recording “5 Star Generals” at DJ Spinna‘s house with a young Marshall Mathers. I definitely remember a time when it wasn’t so strange to catch “Arabian Knights” on Hot 97 a few times a week. Directed by Media Gasface.
As a bonus…here’s the aforementioned banger that put him on the map:
“Arabian Knights” (Produced by Nick Wiz)

Good video. Shabbam was a real good artist and performer in the early nyc indie days. Thats possibly the first Rawkus record that I bought, cant remember.
I do remember playing a house party in the 90′s and never seeing that record again tho! Arabian nights and my Chi Ali album are two P.O.W’s that I’ve never been able to find.

Agreed. That 12″ was a staple in the 90′s indie era. Back when I was sellin’ off crazy amounts of vinyl (some stuff I really regret getting rid of – college wasn’t free), I knew to keep my copy of “Arabian Knights.” I think it was either that, Sir Menelik, or Reflection Eternal (if I’m getting my timelines correct) that I copped first. That first Indelibles 12″ is up in question too.
Good looks on the comment Bzar, always good my man.
